Confinement @ Po Po

According to the Chinese custom, after delivery, Mummies are not allow to go out of the house for 1 full month. They are suppose to be confine at home, rest and recuperate. During these 30 days at home, there are things that they can or cannot do.

Can Do
1) Eat, eat as much as you can. They believe that this is the time for you to take in as much nutrients as possible to build up your body. As delivery is consider a very major project for every woman, so during post-natal we would have to build up our systems again
2) Rest, let yourself have plenty of rest as possible. Preferably, you should be in bed all the time. So that you can heal your back as well as your uterus
3) Drinks lots of hard liquor/ rice wine/ DOM. Also to aid in building up our body.
4) Eats tonnes of Ginger. This is to disperse the wind in our body. (But I wonder how did the wind get into us in the first place?? When we deliver?? "_")

Cannot Do
1) Bath. You are not allow during confinement as this is consider cold (chinese term it as 寒)
2) Wash Hair. For the same reason as above, not allow to wash hair
3) In fact, you are not allow to touch water at all
4) No seafood as they are poisonous (as to the chinese)
5) No chicken for the first 12 days after delivery
6) No fan / aircon. As the wind might get into your body and you will get rheumatism when you age

Lucky for Mummy, Po Po actually let her have fan in the day and aircon during nite time. She was also allow to bath like once a week starting from 2nd week onwards. However, definitely no washing of hair. Po Po worried that mummy will get 头风 when she grow old.. haha..

Our confinement days are not that bad.. Get to eat n sleep, eat n sleep. Though I am a 3hrly kid right from the start, Mummy still can't get use to waking up in the middle of the night to feed me.. She still needs some time to adjust herself and also because she needs to express her breast milk for me, so she can be quite exhausted at times.

Here are some picture of me taken during confinement :)
