Goodbye 2009

Fast... Time really flies very fast and before we knew it, 2009 is coming to an end.

Little Lucas has grow from a baby to a toddler and this year alone he has got 10 new friends, 2 girls, 8 boys... and they are

Oliver, Asher, Aven, Jazael, Charlotte, Brittany, Doreitius, Raynor, Jayven and Koen
(see how productive our friends are ... hehe)

My new accomplishment for the year would be learning to cook & bake!! And yes, I am totally addicted to it that every weekend if I have the time I will definitely bake or cook or do both.
Oh ya.. I have also become a professional FB gamer.. or rather virtual farmer..wahaha :D

Daddy's accomplishment would be.......
lesser or sometimes no more cursing and swearing of the morning traffic jams.
(he can't give me one.. so this is what I think he had achieved)

2009 has been a rather smooth and peaceful year for our little family.

Neither one of us looses our job or suffers a pay cut due to economic downturn which is a big blessing.

Daddy has learnt to help a little bit more in the household chore.

Mummy has learnt to control a little bit more of her nonsensical tantrums.

Little Lucas has learnt alot more how to rummage drawers and turn the whole house upside down :D

Wee Family would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and may 2010 be a fruitful, wonderful & plentiful year for all!!!

Below are some pictures we took over the Christmas Holidays.. enjoy :)

Little Lucas's 1st Overseas Trip

Yes, it's his 1st trip out of SG.. but only to Bintan though :)

It's Desmond's company trip and family members are invited as well, so to try out how well we can cope with Little Lucas, we decided to join the short getaway. Final verdict... Good!!!!!!

Since it was only a 2 days 1 night trip, so packing was quite simple, but still there are plenty to bring for the little one.

Meals wise was pretty ok, Little Lucas is able to eat rice, noodles and quite a variety of other food, so we don't have to worry about getting special prepared meals for him. Just that at times, he can be quite cranky and refuse to eat.

He slept well too, I guessed he was tired and so he slept through soundly in the night even though it's a new environment.

We brought him to the pool for his first swimming experience. On the first day, he sit in his float.. using his hand splashing the water.

Then Daddy brought him out of the float to stand in the pool, he was very happy but suddenly he lost balance and his head went under the water. He was shocked and frantic. But after a while he went back into his float again.
The next day, we brought him to the pool again (that's how a resort getaway like, there's nothing much to do except to visit the pool.. hehe). This time, he wants to be out of the float and walk around in the pool!!! Despite the awful drowning experience, he still insist to walk around and refuse to be hold and again he went under the water and again he still want to walk on his own!!! Daring little monster!!

Daddy also let him had his first horse ride and he was having fun.

Look at how Lucas was the centre of attraction among the kids.

Lastly, I was horrified by Little Lucas. He had a fall in the room while I was showering and he was with Daddy. After the fall, he didn't make a single noise or whine about the pain. As usual, Daddy took it that nothing happen.
Then when I was wiping his face using my right hand, I saw blood on my left!!!!
I was in SHOCK!! Daddy told me he had a fall and that could be the cause. I quickly examined his head for bumps or bruises and I found a small little cut on the back of his head. It's very small, not more than 5cm. But it scared the wits out of me and tears were flowing uncontrollably. Never have I ever imagine that my kid would have a cut on his head and his t-shirt were stained. We quickly brought him to the clinic at the hotel and have his small wound clean. The doctor said that he looks fine and since there's not vomiting and he don't look drowsy, so everything so be well. Just that we have to monitor him to make sure there's no more bleeding and no sign of vomiting or fever. Again, my little brave one was still smiling and happy as normal as it can be...

Here are the rest of the photos taken...

We're going to the Zoo Zoo Zoo...

As Little Lucas is able to pronounce names of a few animals, we decided that it's time for us to bring him to the Zoo.

The weather was fine and good. The crowd was lesser than expected since it's a weekday but there are lots of school children, given that exams are now over, it's no surprise to see so many kids there.

Just when we were purchasing our tickets, the staff told us that the exhibit for Giraffe and White Rhinoceros is closed for maintenance. 1 of the boat deck is also closed for renovation meaning the boat ride will only be half of the original journey.

Of course we have to proceed as usual since we were already there but a pity that we can't see giraffe and rino.

As we reached quite early, so our whole itinerary was quite well covered.

We caught the big polar bear having fun in the water.. She is so huge measuring 3m in height and about 1 ton in weight.

See how tiny Little Lucas is.. (he refused to stand still and pose for me... )

As Little Lucas is a do-not-hold-my-hand-and-let me-run-on-my-own-without-any sense of direction boy so we took the tram for most part of the journey and it was a breeze moving around the zoo.

This is the only photo that he smile & pose as there was a foreigner teasing him.

We caught 2 animal shows, Splash Safari featuring the marine animals such as jackass penguins, Californian sea lion, Caribbean manatees and the pelicans.

The other show was Elephant at Work & Play, showing us how do these intelligent big giants move around, work & play in their daily life.

But Little Lucas was least interested in them. His attention span was rather short and instead of watching the performance put up by the animals, he was looking at the audience. Maybe the animals were too far away from him.

We also stop by kidzworld for our lunch and brought Little Lucas to look at pony and goats. Gosh, they are so smelly.. faeces all around....

I think Little Lucas enjoyed most when we let him run freely. He was laughing and running all around. I bet he must had wished for the animals to be on the ground so that he can touch them. He was squeaking in excitement when he saw 2 monkeys running freely on the fences.

Our final stop was at the White Tiger. I thought they would be sleeping but surprising they were very wide awake (maybe because it's their feeding time soon..) and was posing so nicely for the tourists to take photos of them.

More photos over here... :)

Our 3rd Wedding Anniversary

3 years back this day, we walked down the aisle, holding our hands, saying "I do".

3 years flew by in a blink of eye and we have got a 1 and 1/2 year old kid celebrating our anniversary with us!!

No fanciful dinner. Just a simple chocolate cake that I steamed to celebrate the occasion.

Oh yes.. there are gifts.. very special gifts making its way back from Europe soon :)

Happy anniversary dear hubby!! May our marriage be full of love & happiness & forever everlasting!!

Yes... I made it!

Finally I tried my hands in making a charlotte cake.

When I first saw this cake, I was very impress by the outer ring of lady fingers (sponge fingers). It just make the cake looks more elegant and very girly. With all the fruits & everything, it looks so delish... After some research, I realise that this is a very very simple to do cake. Just have to get all the neccessary ingredients and assemble them up.

So i being to search for a easy & fool proof recipe of baking a sponge cake as a base.

Slice the cake into 2 layers (or 3 layers if you want)

Spread some fresh whipped cream one layer (cut layer face down)
Place fruits on top (better to cube the fruits for easy cutting of the whole cake)

Spread another layer of fresh whipped cream

Place the next layer of cake ontop (cut layer face up)

Frost the whole cake with fresh whipped cream

Place lady fingers around the side of the cake

Top the cake with fruits and it's all done.. easy right??

If you like, you can tie a ribbon around. This also helps to secure the lady fingers around the cake
