Bento for Jasmine

As Lucas is still too young to eat the kiddy bentos, so it's not very often that I make them.

And since Jasmine is on school holidays now, that gives me a chance to make one for her.

Potato salad moulded in star, heart and bear (sorry, it don't looks like one again..) shape.

Rabbit cut out from cheese on plain cracker and some grapes for side.

Jasmine has been telling me how much she wants to try the baby mash potato that I made for Lucas. But the mash potato has to be served hot and that makes it quite difficult for me to prepare one for her.

So I made this potato salad instead.

Potato Salad Recipe

Ingredients

  1. Potatoes (4 large)

  2. Carrots (1 large)

  3. Crab stick (6 pcs)

  4. Eggs (3 pcs)

  5. Japanese cucumber (1 large)

  6. Mayonnaise (1 small can)

  7. Some butter

Method

  1. Boiled potatoes, carrots and eggs

  2. Mash up potatoes with butter, set aside

  3. Mash up eggs, set aside

  4. Diced carrot and Japanese cucumber

  5. Shred crab stick (straight from the chiller after washing, no need to boil)

  6. Add in diced carrot, Japanese cucumber, shred crab stick, eggs & mayo and blend everything together.

  7. Chill it before serving

Froggie Bento

Used the pandan bread to cut out the frog head... Doesn't really look exactly like a frog though I should really get the Nori puncher so that the face details looks more real.

Added 2 pcs of the doggies cookies and 1 piece of Minnie biscuits. (All the mickey biscuits have broken ears so cannot be use here.. ) and some cherries

The scramble eggs was for Lucas and he loves it.

By Mummy --- My very first Bento

After looking at so many bento blogs.. I decided that I should put my hand to it today....

Thanks to
Tona-mama for the 3 little pigs inspiration
But my pigs seem to be much bigger... hmmm

I use ham & white bread for the pig head cut out from a bear rice mould / cutter. Also ham for ears and nose. The 2 holes on the nose are cut using a normal straw
Added 1 mini cupcake for Lucas and also included strawberries, grapes and flower & star cut out dragon fruit as deco to make the bento look less empty

Lucas only took half of the cupcake.. I reckon he won't like the dragon fruit cos it's tasteless!! Did not let him try strawberry as he might not be use to biting seeds on the fruits itself.
He only suck a bit on the grapes.. guess still not accustom to the taste yet.
So the rest have to be finish by Mummy..

There are lots and lots of rooms for improvement.. such as cutting of the face expression.. Still need more practice.. the eyes and mouth on the pigs aren't too nice.. :(
And my bento don't seem "full".... need to add more deco stuff or increase the quantity of food
..

Something interesting on the table... let's check it out

I am coming... keke

Hmm.. looks interesting...

Let me take a closer look.. Oh.. is Little Pigs!!!

Can I play with them?!?!

Please Mummy.. they are for me right?? :)
